Mixed sentiments prevailed at the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) where equities closed on a positive note amid declining transaction volume on Tuesday. The LSE-25 index further moved up to 3229.35 points against 3221.89 points of Monday, showing an increment of 07.46 points, while transaction volume further squeezed to 01.918 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 02.630 million shares.
According to brokers, the investors have adopted cautious approach and are not showing interest to take fresh positions. Dawood Hercules Chemicals, Adamjee Insurance, Pak Oil Fields, OGDC, UBL, Pakistan Reinsurance Co, MCB Bank, PSO, Dewan Farooq Motors and Kot Addu Power resisted pressure and registered gains, while HBL, Nishat Chunian, ABL, Flying Cement, NBP, Lucky Cement, Engro Corporation, Silk Bank and Japan Power Generation suffered losses and closed in minus column.
The gainers were just ahead with the losers, as out of a total of 105 companies, 30 showed strength and were closed in green zone, 24 suffered losses, while 51 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Among the gainers, Dawood Hercules Chemicals gained Rs 3.06, Adamjee Insurance was improved by Rs 2.68, Pak Oil Fields was appreciated by Rs 2.50, while OGDC, UBL, Pakistan Reinsurance Co, MCB Bank, PSO, Dewan Farooq Motors and Kot Addu Power were up by Rs 2.22, Rs 1.10, Re 1.00, paisa-0.96, paisa-0.65, paisa-0.60 and paisa-0.51, respectively.
Among the losers, HBL shed Rs 1.32, Nishat Chunian was declined by paisa-0.55, ABL lost paisa-0.50, while Flying Cement, NBP, Lucky Cement, Engro Corporation, Silk Bank and Japan Power Generation were down by paisa-0.45, paisa-0.43, paisa-0.40, paisa-0.37, paisa-0.15 and paisa-0.11, respectively.
