The Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) has cut down the schedule of load shedding by three hours in both urban and rural areas of the province. According to new schedule announced on Friday, a 6 to 7 hours load shedding will be carried out in the urban areas while 9 to 10 hours load shedding will be observed in rural areas.
It said that due to some improvement in the current energy crisis throughout the country, Pepco has reduced the load shedding quota of all power companies. Now the load shedding quota for Pesco in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) is 480 mw as compare to 730 mw a few days back, bringing down the load shedding to 6 to 7 hours load shedding in urban areas and 9 to 10 hours in rural areas.
The company has further assured of all-out efforts to avoid forced load shedding while Pesco Chief Executive Mohammad Wali and Chief Engineer Operation Abdul Latif Khan have thanked consumers for extending cooperation o during the recent energy crisis.
Meanwhile, the company recovered Rs 6 million, removed 190 direct hooks, and lodged FIRs against 89 persons in crackdown on power defaulters and power theft in Peshawar Circle including City, Cantonment, Rural, Charsadda and Shabqadar Divisions. Special teams under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) carried checking in the areas and beside recovery of Rs 6 million also successfully removed 190 direct hooks and registered 89 cases for power theft.
