In line with Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif's vision to turn the province into a hub of industrial activities, Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) has embarked upon a programme to launch a chain of industrial estates throughout the province.
The first such industrial estate that will come on ground in Rahim Yar Khan, Southern Punjab, said a spokesman of PIEDMC, here on Friday. He said that payment of rupees 240 million as price of the land has already been made. Rahim Yar Khan is an important district as it is situated at the junction of three provinces.
According to an initial estimate, with the setting up of more than 300 medium and large industrial units there, about 20,000 job opportunities will be created directly. The spokesman said that PIEDMC has already acquired 455 acres of land where fencing has been completed in order to build international standard infrastructure such as roads, drainage, sewerage, horticulture, water, gas and electricity etc.
