Met Office predicted here on Thursday that a westerly weather system has entered the country through Balochistan . This system would cause scattered dust storm and rain in parts of the country on Friday.
Under the influence of this weather system rain with thundershower accompanied with gusty winds is likely at scattered places in upper parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir and at isolated places in D I Khan, Multan and D G Khan Divisions.
While isolated rain/showers may also occur over upper Sindh during this period. This weather system may continue in upper parts up till Saturday morning and in Kashmir up till Sunday. The day temperatures are expected to fall 3 to 5 degrees in upper parts of the country while there would be less relief in lower parts of the country, met office predicted. It advised the wheat farmers of Punjab and KPK who have still not completed their crop harvesting to take precautionary measures accordingly during this spell.
Meanwhile dust storm accompanied by light rain in Lahore and other adjoining cities dropped the temperature up to 6 degrees in Thursday evening and made the weather very pleasant for the citizens hit by dry and hot weather and prolonged electricity outages.
Met office said that Weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country on Thursday. However, Rain/Thunderstorm occurred at isolated places of Northeast Balochistan, Upper KPK, Upper Punjab (Including Rawalpindi & Islamabad) and Kashmir. Scattered thunderstorm/rain is expected over north Balochistan.
Scattered thunderstorm/rain is also likely to occur over D G Khan, Multan, D I Khan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions. Scattered thunderstorm/rain over all divisions of KPK including dust thunderstorm over the plane areas. Local thunderstorm/rain may also occur over Gilgit-Baltistan & Kashmir.
