Senior Executive Vice President of Pakistan Telecommunications Company Ltd (PTCL), Abdullah Yousuf has said that the company would soon initiate fastest internet and broadband service for business community. Speaking at a meeting at Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati), he said that PTCL is trying to provide latest telecommunications facilities to its subscribers, better than available in UAE.
He said that PTCL has introduced latest technology in Pakistan, which is not existing anywhere in the region. He said that PTCL has made and making huge investment to improve its services and network. Abdullah said that the PTCL services are less expensive, as compared to other countries in the region. He said that while PTCL's relations with its subscribers were not as good as it should be and added that problems of over 60 years can not be set on overnight.
President of India Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, S M Muneer said that if the public sector organisations handed over to the private sector the loss making units could be turnaround. While expressing satisfaction over the performance of PTCL he said that Pakistanis are getting telecommunications services even cheaper than Canada.
He demanded of the government to give priority to the industrial sector in the forthcoming budget and announce packages for industries' revival. Former Chairman, Mian Zahid Hussain reiterated his demand to hand over public sector organisations such as PIA, Railways, Pakistan Steel, etc to private sector entrepreneurs in order to save Rs 500 billion instead of over-burdening the tax payers with additional taxes.
Acting Chairman, Kati, Salimuz Zaman asked the PTCL executive to provide improved services of broadband and land-line to the industry, as it is need of the hour. He said that PTCL and Kati have satisfactory working relationship with each other.
Vice Chairman, Shahid Javed Qureshi said that there is room for further improvement in PTCL network. He said PTCL has launched IPTV and VWLL but those who have registered for any of these services online at 1236 are facing problems. They received bills prior to installation of broadband/IPTV etc due to which they have to make unnecessary visit to PTCL offices to rectify the bills.
