The Lahore High Court was informed on Wednesday that the Government of Pakistan keeps on registering regular protests with America on drone attacks and massive killings of people. The Foreign Ministry said this in its reply in the court during hearing of an application filed by Barrister Iqbal Jafree against drone attacks.
The court however, adjourned to May 12 the proceedings in the civil miscellaneous application seeking directions for the federal government to stop drone attacks in the country as petitioner-counsel Barrister Iqbal Jafree requested the court to grant some time to file rejoinder on replies. The reply crafted by Deputy Chief of protocol (A&F) Foreign Ministry Zahid Raza and Deputy Attorney General Nasim Kashmiri submitted the said reply before the court.
In his reply the official requested the court to dispose of the application as it was filed in a petition which the LHC had already disposed of on merit. He contended that unless said order on main petition was not set aside, no civil miscellaneous application could be entertained.
While Punjab Government through Home Department submitted in its reply through an assistant advocate general stating therein that the matter was not related to Punjab government. Barrister submitted that so far thousands of people, including women and children, had lost their lives due to the US drone attacks in Pakistan. The country's former president Pervez Musharraf is responsible for the US drone attacks in Pakistan.
