Mir Changez Khan Jamali Federal Minister for Science and Technology presided over a meeting here on Wednesday to review the issues and progress of three main departments of Ministry - Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) and National Institute of Electronics (NIE).
The respective heads of the departments, ie Dr Shaukat Pervez, Chairman PCSIR, Dr Aslam Tahir, Chairman PCRWR and Zafar Iqbal, Chairman NIE briefed the federal minister on the progress made by their departments. The minister assured them of his maximum support for the resolution of their departmental issues.
The minister also impressed upon the head of PCSIR to effectively adopt technologies for the uplift of socio-economic status of Pakistan. Addressing the head of PCRWR Jamali underlined the significance of promotion of research in all aspects of water resources and stressed to commercialise its Research and Development (R&D) in collaboration with other organisations.
While talking to the head of NIE, Jamali emphasised the importance of undertaking design and development work in emerging areas of electronics and to acquire advanced level of know-how in major disciplines of electronics. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary MOST Irfan Nadeem and other high officials of the ministry.-PR
