Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police have busted 14 criminal gangs during the current month and recovered 13 vehicles and stolen commodities worth Rs 2.1 million from their possession.
A total of 13 stolen vehicles, looted items worth Rs 2.1 million were recovered from the detained robbers, while illegal weapons being used in the dacoities and car snatching were also recovered from them, said a report of the CIA regarding the performance of the CIA presented to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad here on Thursday.
The report about month of April revealed that CIA police busted 14 gangs and arrested its 36 criminals including 10 proclaimed offenders. The nabbed persons have confessed to take away 44 vehicles from various areas of the city and further investigation is underway from them. Police teams have been constituted for the recovery of stolen cars, which they sold in other districts, the report stated.
IGP Wajid Ali Durrani had assigned the task to SP CIA Chaudhry Liaqat for effective handling of crime cases of heinous nature and completes the investigation on them. Following the directives, special teams were constituted led by DSP CIA Bashir Ahmed Noon, DSP CIA Property Wing and Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) Abdul Razaq.
The CIA revealed in its report that it has successfully traced the crime cases of heinous nature and busted 14 criminal gangs. In all, 10 proclaimed offenders and court absconders were also arrested while 10 persons were arrested for having 223 wine bottles, 52 gram heroin and 520 gram hashish. As many as 28 cases of murder and dacoity were also resolved in this period and looted items worth Rs 2.1 million were recovered from them.
After reviewing the CIA monthly performance report, IGP Wajid Ali Durrani directed the CIA police officials to ensure effective policing and provide immediate relief to citizens by resolving their complaints on immediate basis. He said that arrest of proclaimed offenders and other criminals involved in heinous crimes should be ensured. The IGP as well as SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan have also announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for CIA police officials who nabbed the criminals of notorious gangs.
