FIA for declaring Musharraf as proclaimed offender

In the wake of refusal by the British government to hand over former president Pervez Musharraf in Benazir case without extradition treaty, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to declare Musharraf proclaimed offender. This was stated by FIA counsel before the Anti Terrorist court during the hearing of the case of Benazir Bhutto after negation of the British government to hand over Musharraf to Pakistan for trial.
The counsel informed the judge that arrest of Pervez Musharraf could not be carried out on the warrant issued earlier. The British authorities have said that Musharraf had gone to Dubai, so there is no question of handing him over to Pakistan, he added. The counsel requested the court to initiate the process of declaring Pervez Musharraf proclaimed offender, on which the court ordered that the arrest warrant be withdrawn first. Later, the court adjourned the hearing till May 7.
