Aashiyana Housing Project meant for poor and common man: chief minister Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed the concern that the divide between rich and the poor is on the rise, which needs to be checked and the Aashiyana Housing Scheme is a step forward in this direction. He said that launching of Aashiyana Housing Project meant for the poor and the common man equipped with modern facilities for the first time in the history of the country, is a revolutionary step of Punjab government.
This welfare-oriented project is meant for poor, orphans, widows and martyrs and no compromise will be made on the quality of this project, he added. He said that he will personally supervise Aashiyana Housing Project and third party audit of the project will be carried out. He said that the balloting for allotment of houses in first Aashiyana Housing Scheme in the provincial metropolis would be held on May 1.
He was talking on the occasion of reviewing the pace of work on first Aashiyana Housing Scheme at Saroba Attari here on Saturday. Chairman Punjab Land Development Company Sheikh Alauddin, Commissioner Lahore, concerned officers and the representatives of construction companies were also present on this occasion.
Chief Minister said that Punjab Government has started Aashiyana Housing Scheme for the low-income people in which, like housing schemes of elite, all modern and basic amenities are being provided. He said that Aashiyana Housing Schemes would be a glaring example with regard to quality and all facilities including schools, colleges, dispensaries, vocational institutions and sports grounds would be available in these schemes. He said that the scope of these schemes will be expanded through out the province.
He said that allotment of houses in Aashiyana Housing Schemes will be made in a very transparent manner and like other projects, this project will also be completed most transparently as per policy of the Punjab government. He said that 10 per cent quota has been allocated for widows, orphans, disabled and heirs of martyrs in these housing schemes and Punjab government will make down payment itself on their behalf.
He said that all possible steps are being taken for early completion of Aashiyana Housing Scheme and best infrastructure is being constructed here. Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction over the pace of work on Aashiyana project in Saroba Attari and appreciated the quality of work by Punjab Land Development Company, concerned officers and contractors. Earlier, Chairman Punjab Land Development Company Sheikh Alauddin, Commissioner Lahore and other concerned officers gave a detailed briefing about the progress of the project.
