Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC), Karachi Airport Unit recovered a half kg of heroin, concealed in children's jacket, from a postal parcel on Monday. According to details, the DEC staff while clearing the outgoing international parcels at Pakistan Post's Express Mail Service (EMS), Shara-e-Faisal, Karachi intercepted a parcel booked from Gulshan-e-Iqbal Post Office for an address in Birmingham, UK.
A thorough search of the parcel led to the recovery of 500 grams fine quality heroin, which was packed in small packets sewn under inner linings of the two kids' size warm jackets. In recent past, the mafia involved in drug smuggling has started using a number of children garments for drug concealment to deceive the Customs staff. Consequent upon recovery and seizure of contraband narcotics, a prosecution case under Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 has been registered. Further investigation is in progress.-PR
