At least 13 students were injured in a clash between two student organisations at Dawood Engineering College within the limits of Jamsheed Quarter police station. The activists of Jiye Sindh Student Federation (JSSF) scuffled with the workers of Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) when they tried to stop a JSSF worker for playing songs on his mobile phone.
The verbal talks soon turned violent as both the groups attacked each other with guns and sticks. However, the administration of the college intervened and tried to control the situation but failed. Thereafter, heavy contingent of police and rangers rushed to the spot and brought the situation to normalcy.
The names of the 13 students are: Munawar Soomro, Sunni Jhokio, Kamran Laghari, Saqib Jhokio, Ejaz, Nabeel Kamran of JSSF while six students of IJT are Salman, Zeeshan, Rana Omar, Muhammad Ali and Shahid Rashid. Police shifted all of them to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical treatment. No case was registered till filing of this report.
Yet another clash between the students of Pukhtoon Students Federation and Imamia Students Organisation was reported in Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology. The students, who came outside the university, blocked the main university road for over half an hour. Later, police and rangers rushed to the spot and dispersed the students. No case was registered till filing of this report.
