Qureshi meets Munawwar

Published Updated

Former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has called on Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Syed Munawwar Hassan on Friday. They discussed matter of mutual interest during the meeting. The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary General JI Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, Ameer JI Lahore Ameer-ul Azeem, Hafiz Salman Butt and Maula Abdul Malik.
Talking to media afterwards, the JI chief Munawar Hassan has said that Shah Maood was the first person who said that Raymond Davis does not enjoy any diplomatic immunity. Shah Mehmud Qureshi lauded the JI's role in national politics with its roots in the masses. Replying to newsmen questions on Raymond Davis issue, Qureshi said, there were several things missing in this case adding that case had been solved transparently if the government allows the courts to complete the legal process then body had raised objection on the process.
He said the nation was highly disappointed and there was great resentment against the rulers on this issue. The masses were not satisfied over the rulers' conduct and had lost confidence in them. He said the heirs of the Raymond Davis's victims were still demanding justice and Ibadur Rehamn's brothers were complaining that justice had not been done in their case. If the whole matter had been handled in a transparent manner, no body could have any grievances, he added. The situation, he said, had reached a stage where all the pacts and agreements made in the Musharraf era should be reviewed.
