Eight robbers loot huge amount of money from bank

At least eight unidentified armed robbers on Thursday looted huge amount of foreign currency and over a half million rupees from a private bank in the limits of Mehmoodabad police station. According to police sources, at around 9:30am, some eight armed robbers intruded in a bank situated at Azam Basti at 100 feet road within the jurisdiction of Mehmoodabad police station and snatched weapons from security guards namely Ghulam Rasool and Hayat.
The robbers, who held bank's employees hostages at gunpoint, injured a security guard Ghulam Rasool on offering resistance during bank lifting. Police said the robbers, who had looted around Rs 0.6214 million from a private bank, safely managed to flee after completing their swift operation within five minutes. They said the police have kept both security guards in custody for interrogation.
Meanwhile, station officer of Mehmoodabad police station said some eight armed men, who came in a car (APG-908) and two motorbikes, entered in a private bank at around 9:30pm. He said the dacoits after snatching weapons from security guards, pulled out their guns and held the whole staff hostages.
They looted Rs 0.6214 million cash, US $8000 and prize bonds worth Rs 29000 from cash counter within five minutes. He expressed his inability to get footages of the said incident, saying that the robbers after completing their swift operation within minutes ran away with DVR system. In this context they were unable to identify robbers.
Moreover, he said that the police had lodged a FIR 129/11 against unidentified robbers on the complaint of Sajid, a service manager of this bank and started investigation in this connection. Later, a team of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) headed by SP Raja Umar Khattab also visited the incident place and took evidence for investigation. Needless to mention, this was third bank heist during current year.
