Islamabad Police have arrested three men who had abducted a 17-year-old boy from Sector F-10/2 and were demanding Rs 5 million as ransom from his family. Police, after thorough investigation, raided a house in Bhara Kahu area and recovered the kidnapped boy safely, arresting three kidnappers, said Naeem Iqbal, a spokesman of Islamabad Police here on Thursday.
He said that during the preliminary investigation the kidnappers confessed that they were thinking to take the kidnapped boy to Tribal Areas, but failed in doing so due to blockades in the city. The detained kidnappers were identified as Muslim Raza, Ali Zain and Asad Ali, he said.
Giving details, the spokesman said that Shalimar Police received a complaint from Aazar Ayaz, resident sector F-10/2 in which he stated that his 17-year old son Xavier Ayaz, student of 'A' level is missing since evening of March 16, 2011 and did not come back from the tuition centre.
He also stated in the compliant that his family members tried to contact him at his mobile phone but it was switched off. A person later contacted him and told him that his son is in their captivity and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 million for his safe release. The kidnappers threatened to kill the boy if they informed police about the kidnapping episode.
DIG (Operations) Bani Amin Khan constituted a special team led by SP Dr Khurram Rasheed, which started investigation of the issue and succeeded in recovering the abducted boy safely without paying ransom. Inspector General of Police Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani appreciated the performance of police team who arrested these kidnappers and recovered the young boy safely within a very short time. He also announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the members of the police team while the family of the recovered boy also appreciated the police for brilliant performance.
