The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) recently held their inaugural ceremony of their Golden Jubilee Celebrations on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Sheesh Mahal, Serena Hotel, Islamabad.
This event is part of a series of events that ICAP has planned over the course of the current year in lieu of the celebrations of their Golden Jubilee, as ICAP will be completing 50 years of its establishment in July 2011. The Council of the Institute has planned to celebrate this milestone with grandeur and has declared the Year 2011 as ICAP's Golden Jubilee Year.
The Inaugural Ceremony was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, the Honourable Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gilani and the Guest of Honour, Dr AbduI Hafeez Sheikh, the Minister for Finance as well a large number of high ranking government officials, diplomats, senior members and media personnel.
The ceremony started off with the recitation of the Holy Quran after which the Chief Guest officially inaugurated the celebrations by unveiling the ICAP 50 year Celebratory Plaque. The Chief Guest then addressed the audience and congratulated the Members of ICAP on completion of 50 years.
The ceremony then proceeded with the welcome address being delivered by the Chairman Golden Jubilee Committee, Hafiz Mohammad Yousaf, FCA. The keynote speakers Tanwir Ali Agha, Auditor General of Pakistan and Sartaj Aziz then spoke about the economic challenges for Pakistan and the way forward. Saqib Masood, President ICAP then shared the vision and future plans of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan after which a vote of thanks was given by Abdullah Yusuf, FCA.
The ceremony also witnessed 16 senior members being awarded plaques for their longstanding services in the field of accountancy. The ceremony was then concluded as guests were then invited to dinner followed by an entertainment program.-PR
