In order to curb land encroachment, the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has planned to computerise land records, Business Recorder learnt here on Saturday. Syed Mushtaq Hussain Rizvi, Executive District Officer Information Technology Department, CDGK, said that old land records of public properties would be saved as PDF files.
He said that the act would help anti-encroachment agencies in identifying encroached lands and would be a useful tool to curb the activities of land mafia. The EDO said that land records of 26 schemes under Karachi Development Authority (KDA) would be computerised initially. He said that our focus is mainly on housing and commercial units.
He further said, that the Command and Control Centre would be upgraded as surveillance cameras would be installed at different corridors and the use of cameras would be extended. Rizvi said that in order to facilitate common citizens the Citizen Complain Information System would be linked with towns and a centralised monitoring system would be set-up. He said that complaints relating to health, road safety, water board issues and other problems falling under the jurisdiction of CDGK would be dealt here. He informed that at present filing system of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital is computerised only, whereas we are planning to introduce computerise filing in other hospitals under CDGK. He said that the hospitals would then be linked together into a single network.
The EDO said that the procurement system of trade licences of common goods would be computerised; he said that the process of computerisation would be completed in 2-3 months. He said that we are planning to integrate activities of the CGDK and Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) in near future.
