A renowned scholar, literary critic, researcher and poet Professor Iftekhar Ajmal Shaheen passed away on March 13, 2011 (Saturday) due to acute dehydration. He was 70. He was a highly qualified person having two masters' degrees (Persian and Urdu). He was born on 10th of February 1941. Ajmal was a teacher by profession and taught in different govt colleges.
He was a senior professor, retired as head of the Urdu and Persian Departments. He leaves behind two sons who are residing abroad. First son in Canada and the second in the US. So he was living alone in a flat in Saima Classic near Gulistan-e-Jauhar as Ajmal's better half had died on 22nd of July 2009.
Professor Iftekhar Ajmal Shaheen was an active writer, having six books to his credit. Of them three "Aqidat Ka Safar," "Shairi Ka Safar" and "Rang-o-Boo Ka Safar" are collections of poetry and ghazals, and the other three books consist of literary write-ups It may be mentioned that a modern poet Azm Bahzaad also died on March 4, 2011. He was the grandson of famous poet Behzad Lakhnavi, born on July 8, 1958. He has one book of poetry "Taabeer Say Pahlay" to his credit, which was published in 1997.-PR
