All segments of the society should join hands for the rehabilitation of flood victims as thousands of helpless families are still awaiting help, said Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Senior Vice President, Atta Shafi Tanvir Sheikh, on Saturday.
Shafi said that the MCCI would fulfil its corporate social responsibility in a winsome manner as it has the understanding that the government alone could not cope with the mass devastation caused by the floods. All segments of society should continue to play their role in solving the problems of the flood victims, he added.
He said that MCCI had fulfilled its commitment made with Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif by constructing 40 houses on war footing in Basti Manchar Mohana of Leyyah and handed over them to the flood victims of the area. He added that MCCI has also committed construction of 150 houses in the flood-affected areas of the district. In the first stage, 40 houses have been constructed on emergency basis while in the second a model village would be constructed in Layyah district as per Punjab government's plan.
