National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) is planning to setup an anti car lifting cell to eliminate the menace and provide complete safety and relief to the people. A spokesperson of the NH&MP while talking to Business Recorder on Saturday said that last year 284 stolen/snatched vehicles were recovered and handed over to their owners.
Among these stolen/snatched vehicles 314 car lifters/dacoits were also arrested with arms/ammunition and handed over to the police for further investigation. Among these car lifters, at least 40 culprits were gang leaders of car snatchers. He said that NH&MP also conduct regular patrolling on national highways and motorways to ensure safety of the passengers. Spokesperson further said that to strengthen the police patrolling on these highways, an anti car-lifting cell would also be set up in the motorway police, which would work more scientifically to recover the stolen/snatched vehicles.
