Apex body of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to maintain zero tolerance policy on terrorism

The Apex Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to continue zero tolerance policy on militancy and terrorism and vigorous persuasion of rehabilitation, reconstruction and development plans in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA and especially in the militancy-affected areas.
The meeting of the apex committee was held with Governor Khyber Pakhtukhwa, Barrister Masood Kausar in the chair on Tuesday. Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, Corps Commander, Peshawar Lieutenant General Asif Yasin Malik, Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir Akhtar and Inspector General of Police, Fiyaz Ahmad Toru attended the meeting.
"Restoration of peace, normalcy and accelerated development activities to ensure over all socio-economic uplift of the people is the ultimate goal and no effort will be spared to achieve this milestone within the shortest possible time," it was reiterated in the meeting.
The provincial heads of law enforcement agencies as well as commissioners of certain divisions gave a detail briefing to the participants on the prevailing law and order situation in their respective jurisdictions. A representative of Provincial Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority (PaRRSA) highlighted salient features of the ongoing reconstruction and development activities under the aegis of their respective organisations as well as certain hindrances.
Barrister Masood Kausar while presiding over the meeting welcomed the participants and said that there can never be two opinions, as far as establishment of writ of the government and restoration of peace and harmony in the society is concerned. The sacrifices, which the personnel of law enforcement agencies and the people at large are rendering, are really praise worthy and will be remembered like a rare asset of our history for a long time, he added.
He also paid rich tributes to the martyrs and prayed for grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with patience. The meeting while taking strong exception to the sporadic incidents of terrorism in certain areas of the province also conceded to a point that extra-ordinary state of alertness by the personnel of security forces needed to be maintained throughout the province and FATA not only to avoid any untoward incident but also to nab elements involved in subversive activities. The meeting was informed that a sufficient headway has already been made for strengthening of administrative machinery and to revive normal life in militancy-hit areas.
