US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman met with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar on Monday in the Foreign Office. The Special Representative was accompanied by US Ambassador Cameron Munter, Vali Nasr, Admiral Philip Davidson who are Senior Advisors to the Special Representative and Embassy officials.
Global and Regional issues, particularly, recent development in North Africa and the Middle East as well as on-going efforts to promote stability and peace in Afghanistan were discussed. Meanwhile, the National Security Advisor of the United Kingdom, Sir Peter Ricketts also met the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar at the Foreign Ministry.
The British Chief of Defence Staff, Sir David Richards, British High Commissioner Adam Thompson and Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir attended the meeting. Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to launch National Security Dialogue in the context of the enhanced Pakistan-UK partnership. The talks covered all issues of mutual concerns, including counter-terrorism, Afghanistan and issues related to South Asia.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs underscored the importance that we attach to consultations and co-operation with the United Kingdom on global and regional issues as well as to giving further momentum to the excellent co-operation that exists between the two countries at the bilateral plane.-PR
