Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said on Sunday that Pak-Turk relations have become stronger and stable with the passage of time and the two countries are linked in the relations of history, culture and religion.
He said that people and governments of both the countries have assisted each other in testing times. The people and government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa highly revered this spirit of Turkey, he added. He was talking to the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan, Babur Hizlan at his office. Senior Provincial Minister, Bashir Ahmad Bilour was also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, matters pertaining to mutual relations, rehabilitation of flood affectees, reconstruction of infrastructure and other issues came under discussion. Hoti thanked the people and government of Turkey for their assistance during the floods. Prospects for promotion of tourism sector in the province also came under discussion during the meeting. The chief minister apprised the ambassador of the approval of provision of 64kanal land for the construction of Turkish Institute for Co-operation and Development in Pir Sabaq Nowshehra, where a hospital and school and social welfare centre will also be constructed. He hoped that the project will help in the financial rehabilitation of flood affectees.
He thanked the ambassador for provision of medical equipment for Khyber Teaching Hospital and Lady Reading Hospital. Expressing his views, the ambassador thanked the provincial government for the provision of land in Pir Sabaq and said Turkey is working on construction of houses in Pakistan. He invited the chief minister for a visit to Turkey. Gifts were also exchanged between the two leaders on the occasion.
