Punjab University Hailey College of Commerce on Sunday organised a graceful ceremony in connection with its 85th Founder's Day at the Hailey College of Commerce. Former Federal Finance Minister Sartaj Aziz was the chief guest while Vice Chancellor Punjab University Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over the ceremony.
Old Hailians including Senator Jahangir Badr, oldest Hailian Haji Abdul Jabbar Khan, Muhammad Akram Khan, Khawaja Amjad Saeed, Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad, Asjad Malhi, Anchor person Farooq, Wasi Shah, Manzoor A Sheikh, Professor Chaudhry Abdur Rehman, Professor Sohail Afzal, Ijaz Akbar, Professor Azhar Ikram Ahmad and Shabbir A Sheikh and many renowned personalities attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion Sartaj Aziz said that values are more precious assets than education and one could get success by implementing these values in their professional life. He asked the business community to concentrate on their business through professionalism and advanced use of technology rather than depending upon the government.
He said that all the rapidly growing countries have no permanent government. He said that our growth rate is only two or three percent while in our neighbouring countries like India it is above ten percent. He declared the day as historical and said that Hailians were present all over the world and are serving on key posts. He advised the students to search their places in the open market.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran, in his presidential address appreciated the efforts of Principal Professor Dr Liaqat Ali for organising a successful ceremony and said that Hailey College of Commerce is a splendid institutions and had produced many renowned persons and hoped that due to its disciplined and learned faculty it will keep producing such great professionals.
He said that research culture had also been initiated at the College and at present there are four PhD teachers and many are abroad for doing their PhD and upon their return new horizon of research in the college would be opened.
Senator Jahangir Badar said that Haiely College of Commerce had a deep influence upon his social and political life and he always felt pleasure and peace when he came to the college.
