ASWJ leader, son and driver gunned down

Founder of Jamia Mahmoodia, Muhammad Ahmad Madni, son and driver were gunned down in New Karachi on Saturday. Madni was shot dead along with his son in Sector 5-J in the limits of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police station on Saturday night. The Maulana was a leader of defunct Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan and the brother of slain party chief Maulana Azam Tariq.
Maulana Madni, 56, and his son Abu Bakr were targeted when they were travelling in their High-roof (ED-4111). Maulana Madni and his son sustained multiple shots and were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the doctors pronounced them dead on arrival. Scores of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) activists reached the hospital and shouted slogans over what they called the continued targeted killings of their party leaders, workers and supporters.
Maulana Madni, who was also former president of the banned SSP, Karachi Division, was injured in an armed attack in 2005, which claimed the life of his younger son Abdullah in Buffer Zone area. Tension gripped North Karachi, New Karachi, Nagan Chowrangi and various parts of the city after the incident.
In a separate incident, a bullets-riddled body of a young man was recovered from Nullah at Liaquatabad in the limits of Super Market police station. The victim, who was later identified as Zahid Hussain, 30 son of Ghulam Fareed, was the resident of Haji Mureed Goth, Gulbahar.
Police said the victim was missing since Friday night and his mother Zahra Bibi had got case of his kidnapping registered with Gulbahar police station against Hanif, Hammad, Munno and Abdul Rehman. They said the victim, who was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for post-mortem had received two bullets in his head. No case was registered till filing of this report. A strangled body was found in Malir in the limits of Korangi Industrial area police station. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained.
Police said the victim, who was strangled by a rope, appeared to be Seraiki speaking and added that unidentified culprits kidnapped him before killing him and throwing his body into the Nullah. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification.
A watchman was shot dead at Gulshan Teachers Society in the jurisdiction of Sacchal police station. Haji Rana, 39 offered resistance when three armed men tried to enter Gulshan Teachers Society. Resultantly, armed men fired multiple shots on him which the watchman retaliated, which left one bandit Akram injured while his two accomplices managed to flee the scene. Police rushed to the spot after getting information and recovered a TT pistol, a laptop and two mobile phones from the injured bandit. Police shifted both the injured to JPMC where the watchman succumbed to his injuries.
