The Karachi Port handled 141,520 tonnes of cargo including 74,451 tonnes of import cargo, 67,069 tonnes of export cargo and 4,426 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 74,451 tonnes comprised of 29,189 tonnes of containerised cargo and 105 tonnes of general cargo; 4,157 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,627 tonnes of canola seeds; 2,530 tonnes of rock phosphate and 41,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 67,069 tonnes comprised of 28,679 tonnes of containerised cargo; 950 tonnes of general cargo; 20,529 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,137 tonnes of cement; 8,008 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 8,914 tonnes of wheat; 2,470 tonnes of talcum powder and 16,911 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Four ships namely Bunga Raya Lapan, Four Mabucco, Bavaria Express and APL Agate with container, general cargo and two container ships respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Nine vessels viz Yaxing-8, New Activity, Lavender, Zhe Jiagong-1, Sujingong-036, Xinmin-18, Moray, Trave Trader and Lt Genova carrying barge, oil tanker, container, barge, boat, barge, oil tanker and two container ships respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely ER Brest, Lt Genova and Vinashin Melody carrying canola seeds, container and naphtha respectively expected to sail on Friday, while three ships namely Moray, Al-Wajba and New Activity with oil tanker, container and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
Five vessels viz Th Sonata, Chemstar Masa, Kota Anggerik, APL Sokhna and Leopard-B carrying LSFO, ethanol, two container ships and rock phosphate respectively due to arrive on Friday, while four vessels viz Maersk Producer, Iron Monger-5, Lodestar Genesis and Daffodil with LSFO, crude oil, chemicals and container respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total import cargo of 47,651 tonnes includes 26,841 tonnes of furnace oil; 5,045 tonnes of urea and 15,765 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 20,553 tonnes includes 3,498 tonnes of cement; 6,399 tonnes of wheat and 10,656 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Three ships namely CGM Coral, CSAV Cantabrian and Quetta sailed out to sea on Friday morning. A total number of eight vessels viz CGM Coral, CSAV Cantabrian, Christenia, MV Wales-II, MV Protector, MV Sea Baisen, MV Split and Quetta are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, urea and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Eight ships namely Free Envoy, Mire, Safe Marine Cuninne, Argent Freesia, New Ability, CGM Eiffel, Aquila Voyager and Ina Lotte carrying wheat, furnace oil, containers, edible oil, furnace oil, containers, urea and wheat respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz Safe Marine Cuninne, CGM Eiffel, Argent Freesia and New Ability scheduled to load/offload carrying containers, edible oil and furnace oil respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
