Chairman, Tehrik-e-Istiqlal (TI), Rahmat Khan Wardag has said that mid-term polls will not resolve the problems of the country and called for the completion of the constitutional term by the present PPP government to strengthen democracy in the country.
Speaking in Guest Hour, programme of Peshawar Press Club (PPC) here on Friday, he said that the economy of Punjab has become worsen and run through receiving loans and first time it had indebted of Rs 300 billion. He said that public properties have been sold out for generating funds to run the affairs of the government in the province.
He reiterated his proposal for division of the country into 16 provinces to strengthen Pakistan, saying that till the presence of the outdated system no change could be brought in the country. He called for the introduction of proportion representation system in the country to enable all political parties to get representation on the bases of their popularity amongst the masses.
The Tehrik-e-Istiqlal chief said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa out of its 14 percent water utilised only 8 percent and the remaining 6 percent is wasted. He demanded arrangements for the utilisation of the water flows down in River Indus and payment of royalty to the province on it.
Wardag also accused ANP of abandoning principles based politics after the death of Bacha Khan and Abdul Wali Khan. He said that both popular political parties have failed in fulfilling the expectations of the masses and called for unity amongst honest politicians to provide alternative leadership to the people.
He asked the ANP leadership to raise voice for right on the resources of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying that the oil explored from the province go to oil refineries in Punjab and other parts of the country and called for establishment of an oil refinery at the province level.
