The Karachi Port handled 107,287 tonnes of cargo including 35,360 tonnes of import cargo, 71,927 tonnes of export cargo and 3,852 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 35,360 tonnes comprised of 6,936 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,805 tonnes of general cargo; 3,137 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,447 tonnes of canola seeds; 690 tonnes of rock phosphate and 18,482 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 71,927 tonnes comprised of 43,149 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,774 tonnes of general cargo; 14,104 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,315 tonnes of cement; 11,362 tonnes of wheat; 1,427 tonnes of talcum powder and 12,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
Three ships namely Cape Sorrell, Hyundai New York and Royal Emerald with two container ships and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five vessels viz Tycoon-II, Al-Sabiyah, Dai Minh, Sea Baisi and DL Diamond carrying rock phosphate, two oil tankers, general cargo and oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely DL Diamond, Yuan Tong and Dai Minh carrying oil tanker, general cargo and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Wednesday, while three ships namely Al-Sabiyah, Bunga Raya Lampan and Katherine with oil tanker, container ship and wheat respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
Seven vessels viz Vinashin Melody, Bavaria Express, Hanjin Paris, APL Agate, Valdivia, Four Nabucco and Al-Jaber-18 carrying naphtha, four container ships, steel & general cargo and wheat respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while six vessels viz Aris, Chemstar Masa, Th Sonata, Kota Halus, Lt Genova and Aquila Voyager with high speed diesel, ethanol, LSFO, two container ships and urea respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 54,522 tonnes includes 31,327 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,500 tonnes of edible oil; 2,774 tonnes of chemicals, 3,398 tonnes of urea, 83 tonnes of project cargo and 13,440 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,648 tonnes includes 4,961 tonnes of cement; 8,455 tonnes of wheat and 11,232 tonnes of containerised cargo. Five ships namely MV Asir, Anichkov Bridge, MV Al-Farahid, MT Al-Salam-II and Venus Triumph sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while two more ships namely Morning Air and Nedlloyed Mercator are expected to sail on the same Wednesday afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels viz MV Al-Farahid, MV Asir, CV Nedlloyed Mercator, Christenia, MV Wales-II, MV Protector, MV Sea Baisen, MV Split, Venus Triumph, Morning Air, MT Al-Salam-II and Anichkov Bridge are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, urea, project cargo, chemicals, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships namely Quetta, Free Envoy, Izumo, MSC Natalia, MSC Sena and Dongbu Promy carrying furnace oil, wheat, chemicals, containers and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of five vessels viz Izumo, MSC Natalia, MSC Sena, Dongbu Promy and Quetta carrying containers, chemicals and furnace oil respectively are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
