The first ever sophisticated Provincial Health Emergency Preparedness and Response (HEPR) Cell was formally inaugurated in Directorate of Health with sole aim to minimise human losses in any sort of natural calamities or epidemic diseases.
The centre was inaugurated by Ms A Gzawe, Counsellor for Economic and Development Co-operation GIZ recently completed with the help of German Government Special Secretary Health, Dr Noorul Iman, Additional Secretary Hussain Shah, Director General Health Service, Dr Sajid Shaheen, Dr JP Steiman, Provincial Advisor GIZ and representatives of international organisation were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the ceremony held on this occasion, Miss A Gzawe said that GIZ would extend all its co-operation to Health Department to serve the ailing humanity. Dr Noorul Iman stressed the concerned quarters to make the emergency cell functional and serve the humanity without discrimination.
Deputy Director Health said that keeping in view human losses in natural disasters and emergencies in recent past the establishment of the said cell was indispensable. He added that the cell would have the capacity to urgently react and respond to any emergency relating to health issues and would play a vital role in preparedness and recovery for future emergencies. It is worth mentioning here that the emergency cell has recently completed with the financial help of the GIZ.
