Dr Fehmida Mirza, Speaker and Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly have strongly condemned the firing incident in which Shahbaz Bhatti, Federal Minister for Minorities was killed here on Wednesday. In their separate statements, the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker expressed their profound grief and sorrow over the unfortunate incident.
They said that he was a seasoned politician and during his tenure as member of the National Assembly and federal minister he has rendered valuable contributions for the welfare of minorities and marginalise segments of the society in the country. "He always strived hard for the promotion of democracy and supremacy of constitution in the country, his services will be remembered for a long time to come," they said.
Speaker and Deputy Speaker said that elements involved in the tragic incident are enemies of the country and nation. They called upon the law enforcing agencies to apprehend the culprits involved in the killing of Federal Minister and bring them to justice. They also prayed for the solace of departed soul and sympathised with the members of the bereaved family.-PR
