Over 350 stranded Pakistanis in Libya have arrived here on Tuesday in two different special flights, charted by a private Turkish company. First chartered flight carrying 174 stranded Pakistanis landed at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in the early hours of Tuesday and the second flight carrying 180 passengers landed in the morning.
The Turkish company evacuated Pakistanis hailing from separate districts in Sindh and Punjab, who were residing in Libya for their livelihoods. On the occasion, the passengers were received by Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor and DCO Lahore Ahad Cheema. The Punjab government also had arranged transportation for the passengers.
Meanwhile, those arrived in Pakistan complained about the non-seriousness attitude of Pakistan embassy in Libya in connection with rescue, relief and evacuation. They said the recent unrest in Libya left them stranded in a foreign land and they had no one to turn to for help. The saddest part was the Pakistani embassy did not respond to their appeals, they added. They appealed to the government to make arrangements for evacuation of stranded Pakistanis from Libya.
