The Procter & Gamble Children's Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Programme has provided three billion litres of clear drinking water in the developing world through the distribution of 300 million PUR packets. With the help of global health organisations, World Vision and PSI, P&G was able to distribute the third billionth litre to a family in Rwanda, the latest country where the P&C CSDW Programme is operating.
CSDW Programme Director Dr Greg Allgood provided the PUR packets that surpassed the three billionth litre milestone. "This is a great milestone for the P&G CSDW Programme and our partners because we're helping to improve the lives of millions of people by providing clean water," said Dr Greg Allgood.
He also commented, "Many of these communities are hit hard by HIV/A1DS and tuberculosis and the unsafe water often compounds the misery suffered by individuals in these villages." P&G manufactures PUR at the P&G Pakistan Hub Plant in Balochistan. Commenting on the accomplishment of this milestone, Country Manager P&G Pakistan said: "Almost one billion people around the world-including Pakistan do not have access to safe drinking water. Achieving the goal of providing three billion litres of clean drinking water is fulfilment of P&G's purpose inspired growth strategy of touching and improving more consumers' lives in more parts of the world more completely. This hallmark achievement is not only significant for P&G but also for Pakistan, which is the only production facility that manufactures PUR Purifier of Water and supplies it throughout the world."-PR
