With a view to open the doors of quality education to the children of underprivileged strata mostly composed of daily wagers, house-maids, child-labourers and out of school children, the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has distributed as many as 23 thousand vouchers under its Education Voucher Scheme (EVS) in peri-urban slums of Lahore and Kasur.
This was stated by PEF's Director (EVS) Maleeha Batool while presiding over a consultative meeting of EVS partner schools of Lahore and Kasur on Monday. EVS-Project Officers Shafique Ahmad & Mohsin Gillani were also present on the occasion. Principals and heads of 129 partner schools attended the meeting. Director EVS told the meeting that a sum of Rs 8 million & fifty thousand was being spent on the fee of these students every month. The meeting reviewed in detail the educational performance of partner schools and the steps needed to further improve the quality of education. It was observed that EVS is very useful for the poor students who cannot access educational facilities dues to poverty.
