A westerly trough affecting upper and central parts of the country will cause isolated rain and snowfall over the hills in upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north-east Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Sunday. An official of the Pakistan Meteorological Department told APP on Saturday that the weather system was also likely to cause light to moderate rain with snowfall over the hills in Punjab and the Federal Capital during next 24 hours.
There are chances of rain/snowfall over the hills at isolated places of DI Khan, Kohat, Malakand and Hazara divisions in KP and Quetta and Makran divisions in Balochistan during next 24 to 36 hours, the official said. During next two days rain and snowfall over the hills is also expected at isolated to scattered places in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. However, mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of Sindh during next 24 hours while light rain is expected at few places in Sukkar division on Sunday.
The official said that a westerly weather system is also likely to approach in the coming days which will cause light to moderate intensity rains in most parts of country from February 23. The weather system is expected to prevail for two to three days, the official added. The maximum temperature recorded in different cities was: Islamabad 6 C, Lahore 8 C, Karachi 14 C, Peshawar 6 C, Quetta 2 C, Murree and Gilgit 1 C. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded minus 9 in Astore.
