Malik inaugurates national crisis management cell

Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik inaugurated the National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) jointly established by the Ministry of Interior and Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Saturday. Malik advised business community and investors to come forward and invest to establish industrial units in the country.
He also invited expatriate Pakistanis to play their role in progress of the country by making investments. The investors who invest would be given the status of VVIPs, he added. The minister said that the country needed 10 billion dollars for injecting it into the economy and for which they needed commitment from Pakistani brothers residing abroad.
The minister said that the government wanted to give a massage to international business community that Pakistan was a country, which provided best investment opportunities. The insurance companies that had given C-minus rating to Pakistan needed to revisit and they would prove them that this place holds value for investment.
Malik suggested the chamber to work out plan for the investment. He proposed that the chamber should establish a committee, which should prepare a list of suggestions to improve investment. He said God has blessed Pakistan with huge mineral resources but there was no unity among the people therefore there was no peace. Commenting on the visit of federal finance minister to FPCCI, he said that he advised him to visit KCCI, which is one of the key chambers of the country and has paramount contributions.
Deputy Convenor of MQM, MNA, Dr Farooq Sattar said gone are the days when politics ruled the show. This is the era of political economy. Today economy dominates politics. Dr Sattar said that RGST was not the end, there is plenty of room for discussion and a lot of things can be done in this regard. He pleaded that the tax should be imposed on feudal lords. Subsidies should be brought into discussion. He said resources worth Rs 800 billion to be mobilised.
He was of the view that community police should be launched in future at towns and districts. Leader of business community and former President KCCI, Siraj Kassam Teli appreciated the efforts of government in controlling law and order.
He said that the establishment of crisis management cell would provide a favourable business environment and help resolving crime issues confronted to businessmen and industrialists. The president KCCI, Saeed Shafiq appreciated efforts of Rehman Malik he made to improve law and order situation in the city. He said the establishment of NCMC is the landmark achievement. Shafiq was of the view that opening of NCMC would help reduce crimes in the metropolis.
The president KCCI informed that NCMC would tackle the cases of kidnapping and extortion. He elaborated that it is dilemma in this country that only 50 percent criminals are caught of which only 20 percent are imprisoned and only few of them are actually punished. Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Provincial Minister of Education, Fayyaz Laghari, CCPO Sindh and Acting IG Police, Haroon Farooki, former President, Junaid Esmail Makda, Vice President, KCCI and representatives of business community attended the ceremony.
