The Karachi Port handled 140,089 tonnes of cargo including 88,514 tonnes of import cargo, 51,575 tonnes of export cargo, 3,509 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 88,514 tonnes comprised of 18,421 tonnes of containerised cargo and 19,032 tonnes of general cargo; 10,762 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,114 tonnes of DAP; 1,790 tonnes of chic peas; 7,858 tonnes of rock phosphate and 40,299 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 51,575 tonnes comprised of 19,457 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,879 tonnes of general cargo; 9,409 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,937 tonnes of cement; 1,746 tonnes of wheat; 5,732 tonnes of gandum and 20,830 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Three ships namely Union Hellen, Abadeh and Lavender with DAP, crude oil and containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Four vessels viz Thuringina Express, STX Patraikos, Fathhur Rehman and Lodestar Genesis carrying containers, wheat and chemicals respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Wei Chi, Lodestar Genesis and Rainbow carrying crude oil, naphtha and chemicals respectively expected to sail on Friday, while another ship namely New Baroness with chick peas is expected to sail on Saturday. Eight vessels viz Chemway Gaia, Chemtrans Mabuhay, YM Asia, Courier, APL Sharjah, Ital Ottima, Siam Star and Katherine carrying ethanol, containers and wheat respectively due to arrive on Friday, while seven vessels viz Rising OM, MSC Ayala, MOL Success, American Tern, Emirates Rafiki, CSL Ride and C Duke with naphtha, containers and wheat respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
The total export cargo of 18,118 tonnes includes 8,566 tonnes of wheat and 9,552 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV New Delhi Express and MV Diamond Falcon are expected to sail out to sea on Friday. A total number of seven vessels viz CV New Delhi Express, CV Santa Paola, CV MSC Aurelie, MV Khalid Bin Muhieddin, MV Dover, MV Four Island and MV Diamond Falcon are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, iron Ore and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Three ships namely Protector, Safmarine and CGM Maasai carrying wheat and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two container vessels viz CV Safmarine and CGM Maasai are expected to take berths at Container Terminal on Friday.
