Three killed in gas explosion in Turkey

An explosion at a natural gas exploration site in Turkey's south-east killed three workers on Thursday, authorities said. The blast, caused by high-pressure gas, occurred near the town of Batman at a site operated by the Turkish Petroleum Corp, local authorities said. Fire fighters extinguished the blaze, they said.
It was the fourth major accident this month at a work place in Turkey, where health and safety measures are poorly implemented. Two separate explosions, caused by liquefied petroleum gas tanks, killed 20 people at an industrial area in the Turkish capital, Ankara, last week.
