Chicago Board of Trade grain futures were mixed on Monday, with wheat up sharply on a combination of export demand and weather concerns in the United States and China, traders said. On the US Plains, melting snow cover is leaving wheat vulnerable to a cold snap, the traders said.
Soyabeans edged lower, hit by long liquidation of spreads and an upbeat view of South American crops. Corn dipped on profit-taking after prices hit their highest since July 2008 in overnight trading. CBOT trends as of 10:15 am CST (1615 GMT) on Monday: March wheat up 12 cents at $8.79 per bushel. March corn down 3-1/4 cent at $7.03-1/4 per bushel.March soyabeans down 3/4 cent at $14.15-1/4 per bushel.
