Raymond Davis case: LHC approached to restrain government grant of diplomatic immunity

Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey has approached the Lahore High Court against possible grant of diplomatic immunity to US citizen Raymond Allen Davis a double murder accused. Barrister Jaffrey contended that federal government is intended to give immunity to the accused Raymond under Vienna Convention, which is totally illegal and constitutional.
He pleaded that the controversy of diplomatic immunity should be decided by courts and, added the Vienna convention does not apply in such criminal cases. To give undue benefit of the said convention will be treason against constitution and country's solidarity. He therefore prayed to the court to restrain the foreign ministry from giving diplomatic immunity to the accused Raymond in violation of Pakistani law and the constitution.
