Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik rang up Jamaat-i-Islami, Secretary General, Liaquat Baluch on Wednesday to convey that President Asif Ali Zardari desired to personally contact the JI chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, and invited him to the Round Table Conference.
The JI Secretary General told the minister that the JI would take a decision only after examining the Conference agenda and the relevant details. Meanwhile, talking to delegations at Mansoora, Liaquat Baluch said that the government had created manifold problems for the country by adopting a weak and cowardly policy in regard to the US. He said, Raymond Davis was the killer of three innocent citizens but Washington was unduly pressuring Islamabad, and the rulers who had been a silent spectator of drone attacks, were preparing to release Raymond Davis.
He however, warned that such a step would generate massive public resentment and hatred against the rulers. He advised the rulers to mould their domestic and foreign policies in the light of the parliament's unanimous resolution and pull out of the so-called war on terror. The JI leader said that the nation was least worried about the US aid would take care of itself.
