ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has hoped that the issue regarding sit-in would be resolved urgently and peacefully as Pakistan cannot afford violence and unrest.
He was talking to media after the conclusion of a meeting with Ulema and Mashaikh of various schools of thought here on Monday. He said there should not be any doubt in anyone's mind regarding the finality of Prophethood (PBUH).
Ahsan Iqbal said the government even removed the flaws in 2002 law on this issue and made it perfect. He said the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal demands that we observe this month peacefully and in a graceful manner.
He said the government will fully cooperate with committee representing various schools of thought.
He said people are facing immense difficulties due to sit-in of protestors and we want to resolve this issue on urgent basis.
Earlier, Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf read the joint declaration of the meeting which said finality of Prophethood (PBUH) is the base of our religion and there should not be any mistake or error in it.
The declaration calls upon all parties to resolve this issue with understanding.
He said the meeting has decided to implement the recommendations of committee headed by Raja Zafarul Haq.
Minister for Religious Affairs said Islam is a religion of peace and wants to make the lives of its followers easy.
He said the declaration also urges the government to postpone operation against the protestors.
