Voicing his support for fellow pacer Mohammad Amir, former Pakistan captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has said he expects the young cricketer to emerge on the top in the upcoming T10 Cricket League.

Amir was the first player to be picked for the draft at the T10 Cricket League and was selected by the Maratha Arabians, where Akram is the franchise mentor. The former captain opined that Amir is going through one of the phases where the bowler achievement hangs on their luck.

“It is one of those phases that everyone goes through, even if, OK, it is a little prolonged. Sometimes you bowl well and don’t get wickets and other times you bowl you are lucky to get a five-for,” said Wasim Akram, quoted The National.

Amir has been ‘unlucky’, says former captain

Akram added that Amir still got the age advantage, as being only 25 the Gujjar Khan born can turn things around with a single spell. “As long as he has got the pace and he is still only 25, I reckon he can get back into gear with one spell, a couple of quick wickets. I am not worried about him at all,” Akram added.

Earlier, similar views were expressed by star all rounder Shahid Khan Afridi. “Any bowler will feel more confident when he is taking wickets but he has been unlucky as quite a few catches have been dropped off his bowling,” Afridi said.
