NEW YORK: New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg called a news conference Sunday to make a terrorism-related announcement, sources said.
The mayor was to be joined by the city's police commissioner and district attorney at the news conference at 7:30 pm Sunday (0030 GMT Monday), according to the sources.
Officials declined to elaborate, but the New York Times said the case involved the arrest of a man planning to build and detonate a bomb in New York with government workers as the target.
The Times quoted a law enforcement source as saying the case was a "lone wolf scenario" and that man had been under surveillance for about a year for buying bomb-making materials.
