PARACHINAR: At least 35 militants have been killed and several others injured in clashes and shelling of gunship helicopters during last 42 hours in central Kurram and Orakzai tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
Sources in political administration said on Friday that a woman and a child were killed as a mortar shells hit their house in Barizone area in Central Kurram.
The operation against the militants has been started in the restive areas of Kurram and Orakzai agencies after armed attack on the security check points.
As many as twenty five militants were killed in Kurram agency and ten in Orakzai agency during last 42 hours. The forces backed by the gunship helicopters are targeting the militants' hideouts in the restive parts of the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.
