gharo-wind-energyKARACHI: The Sindh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Orient Group of Energy, a Chinese company to overcome energy crisis in Pakistan.

The MoU was signed in Beijing on Wednesday in the presence of Speaker Sindh assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro who is leading the delegation. Secretary Investment, Coal and Energy, Mohammed Younus Dagha signed the MOU on behalf of the Sindh government.

Khuhro speaking on this occasion said Sindh was rich in natural resources, and offered Chinese entrepreneurs to exploit the resources for mutual interest of Pakistan and China.

While talking to the Chairman, Orient Group of Energy, Zhang Hongwei, emphasized that it was time for economic development, stressing that Sindh had huge potential.

He stated that Chinese companies should benefit from the opportunities offered by the Sindh government particularly in the field of energy, adding that all kinds of energy generation resources including hydro, solar, wind and biogas needed to be exploited in order to improve socio-economic condition of the masses.

He further added that energy crisis was the biggest issue to cope with and the sitting government in cooperation with Chinese entrepreneurs was striving for tackling the energy issue whereas the present government accorded the highest priority to further strengthen its relationships with China.

Hongwei on the occasion said that his organization was already functional in Pakistan, adding that they would commence work for the production of wind energy in Sindh after the MOU was signed.

He said that the year 2011 had a special significance in Pak-China relationship, adding that the year marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationships between the two countries.

Ambassador Masood Khan commended Zhang Hongwei for his keen interest in the energy sector of Pakistan, adding that besides carrying out its business in Pakistan, the Orient Group was contributing to the social sector for the betterment of the people.
