Senior Vice- Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Makhdoom Muhammad Amin Fahim has underlined the need for implementation of party manifesto in letter and spirit in order to address the issues of masses of the country. He was talking to a group of newsmen after the launching ceremony of a book on hunting titled "Maruan Mout" here at a hotel late Sunday evening.
Makhdoom Amin Fahim said the countrymen need resolution of their genuine grievances including the elimination of poverty, hunger and unemployment and there is need for paying serious attention towards addressing the issues of the people instead of engaging them in irrelevant matters.
He emphasised the need for implementation of the line of action, which was provided by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and bring about such an atmosphere under which every person of the country could get his due rights.
Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had the ability to accept the challenges of dictators and restore democracy in the country, Makhdoom Amin Fahim said and added that it was her struggle that general elections could be made possible in the country and subsequently a civilian government was formed.
He said now there is need to strengthen the democratic norms in the country instead of involving in irrelevant issues. The basic issues of the masses continue to exist and each allied party is trying to run the government according to its desires, he added.
Replying to another question he expressed his regrets that senior party leaders and workers have been sidelined, however, all leaders and workers of the party remained sincere to strengthen democracy and address the issues related to people.
Replying to a question regarding impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf, PPP Vice-chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim said there is need for addressing genuine issues of the province and poverty and loadshedding do not relate to his removal.
Responding to another question regarding investigation of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's assassination by UNO he said speedy efforts are required to pursue the UNO to conduct a detailed enquiry in an effective manner in this direction. To a question Makhdoom Amin Fahim said no concrete measures have so far been taken to provide relief to the people who are facing many issues like price hike and unemployment.
Earlier while addressing the book launching ceremony Amin Fahim said there were many kinds of hunting of animals however, in the present era " man is hunting the man."
He said suicide on basis of poverty and unemployment can also be treated as "the hunting of man." He said there is need for giving confidence to the poor and middle class people to live with courage and in this direction the government should discharge its responsibility with dedication and devotion. The book "Maroun Mout" has been written by Syed Gul Muhammad Shah.
