dr-saghir-ahmedKARACHI: Sindh Minister for Health, Dr. Saghir Ahmed directed the health officials to ensure availability of doctors and technicians in the prisons to provide proper treatment facilities to the inmates on Thursday.

Chairing a meeting, he urged them to arrange skin specialists, dermatologists and psychiatrists besides laboratory technicians, x-ray technicians and dispensers to visit the jails on daily basis for prompt diagnosis, tests and treatment of the prisoners.

The Health Minister asked the officials to submit monthly report about the medical facilities provided to the prisoners. He also directed the Project Directors of Hepatitis and HIV/AIDS Control Programs to ensure screening of each and every prisoner and provide required treatment facilities to them. He warned, any negligence in performing the given task would not be tolerated and would result in strict disciplinary actions against the offenders.
