KIEV: Ukraine, which plans to export a record 27 million tonnes of grain in the 2011-12 seasons, exported 5.4 million tonnes from July to Nov. 9, the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation (UAC) grain lobby said on Thursday.
"As of November 9, grain exports from Ukraine totalled about 5.4 million tonnes, including about 2 million tonnes of wheat, 1.4 million of maize and 1.8 million of barley," UAC director Serhiy Stoyanov said in a statement.
He gave no c. The former Soviet republic sold abroad 4.9 million tonnes of grain, including 2.0 million of wheat, in July-October 2010, according to data provided by UkrAgroConsult agriculture consultancy.
Ukraine exported 2.2 million tonnes of barley and 437,000 tonnes of maize in July-October 2010.
Analyst ProAgro said this week Ukraine had almost doubled its grain exports in the first week of November to about 472,000 tonnes and maize dominated the shipments.
It also said additional 708,000 tonnes, including 306,000 tonnes of maize, should be exported in the near future.
Ukrainian maize was exported to Egypt, Algeria, Syria and Jordan, while wheat went to Italy and Jordan.
ProAgro said the export had risen after the parliament last month cancelled grain export duties.
