No event in SC over Black Day
ISLAMABAD: Despite a call by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for observing November 3 as a 'Black Day', no event was held in the Supreme Court building as the judicial proceedings continued normally.
The SCBA has called upon all the bar associations to hoist black flags, hold meetings and observe a day-long strike to denounce November 3 acts which had subverted the fundamental rights and enforced an unconstitutional rule.
Interestingly, neither anyone among the newly elected members of the top legal fraternity forum appeared before media to highlight the objectives of the day nor black flags or other activity was witnessed.
Justice (Retd) Tariq Mahmood, one of the main characters who successfully orchestrated the judges' restoration movement, was available for his brief comments.
He opined that observance of black day did not mean to take out protest rallies or to wear black stripes.
