The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has signed an agreement with Oracle for the provision of state-of-the-art Information Technology (IT) solutions for the local universities.
An announcement was made in a statement issued here on July 3, which pointed out that the HEC uses Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions to help the universities in Pakistan with state-of-the-art IT solutions.
The statement said that initially six out of 74 public sector universities funded by the HEC would implement the "PeopleSoft Campus Solutions."
The statement pointed out that Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solution, which is used by over 700 education and research institutions around the world, offers HEC with one of the most advanced student information systems available globally - providing a complete solution for managing all aspects of a student's life at the university.
The implementation of the PeopleSoft Campus Solution will help our universities streamline their processes, enhance administrative efficiency and ease the universities' interaction with existing and prospective students making education processes more productive, said HEC Executive Director Dr Sohail Naqvi.
Oracle offers software technology and applications that help world class educational institutions meet and adapt to the changing needs and demands of all their constituents students, teachers, parents, faculty, staff, graduates and alumni, governance bodies, and the extended community of supporters and stakeholders.
Oracle delivers the most comprehensive, adaptable solutions to meet the needs of small institutions as well as large, multi-location school districts and university systems, said Samina Rizwan, Regional Director for Oracle's South Asia Growth Economies region.
Pakistan's economic uplift depends most upon one singular factor - capacity building and skill development in human resources. The HEC is boldly undertaking measures to fulfil this national aspiration is heartening for us as citizens of Pakistan, and Oracle and Techlogix are honoured to partner with HEC in this mission, she added.
Spearheading the development of a knowledge-based economy in Pakistan, HEC's implementation PeopleSoft Campus Solutions is yet another step toward electronic based administration. As funding issues require universities to do more with less, a university is always in need of a solution that streamlines processes, enhances efficiency and boosts productivity in a cost-effective manner.
PeopleSoft Campus Solutions is a step in that direction, the statement said. In 2006, Oracle contributed more than two billion dollars to education world-wide, through its various education initiatives.
The reliability of its education centric applications can be gauged by the fact that the 10 best academic universities world-wide as well as the top 10 research universities run Oracle applications.
